ERBID to go ahead


On July 1st 2016, a majority YES vote (58% by number and 71% in rateable value) was secured in an independent ballot to establish a new English Riviera Business Improvement District (ERBID) on 1st January 2017.

Destination Marketing 2017

Destination Marketing has a vital part to play in influencing where people visit, with research confirming that is the ‘destination’ that is decided upon first, followed by decisions relating to where to stay, what to do and where to eat.

Activity planned for 2017 includes:

• Launch of a new fully mobile responsive official web site

• Produce and distribute 100,000 copies of the Official destination guide

• Introduction of a new Sky AdSmart Short Break TV Campaign targeting new visitors

• Continued operation of the English Riviera Visitor Information Centre

• Introduction of a new Regional Day Visitor Campaign for Exeter

• Ongoing PR, Film and Media Activity to raise positive awareness of the English Riviera


Our Business Plan for 2017-2022

During 2015  and 2016, a programme of Industry Consultation took place to gather opinions and views regarding the proposed development of an English Riviera Bid (ERBID).

The consultation process  included online surveys, public presentations, workshops, one-to-one meetings, media coverage and the distribution of the draft ERTBID Business Plan.

Eligible Businesses and the Business Levy

Each business which contributes to the ERBID expects a return on their investment.

Within the ERBID even the smallest business, whether they are paying on a mandatory or voluntary basis, will receive a package of exclusive ERBID benefits including a full page advert on the official website worth £250.
