This report presents the findings of The English Riviera Visitor Survey conducted between March and July 2016. The survey was undertaken by The South West Research Company Ltd on behalf of TDA.
Torbay Council has commissioned TDA to prepare a new tourism strategy for Torbay building on the previous strategy “Turning the Tide for Tourism in Torbay, 2010-2015”, identifying key issues facing the sector, articulating the vision for the future of the destination and ensuring that the tourism offer is developed in line with customer needs.
TDA therefore wanted to gather up-to-date research from visitors and non-visitors alike, along with the industry to feed into the new tourism strategy 2016-2021 and this report provides the results of a face to face visitor survey and an online visitor survey (undertaken amongst current, lapsed and non-visitors) undertaken during 2016 to feed into this process.
600 adults (aged 16 yrs+) were interviewed face to face at on street locations throughout Torbay during Easter (March and April 2016) and May 2016. In addition, an online survey amongst Torbay information requesters was undertaken during July 2016, a total of 1,737 useable online responses were submitted.
